Vintage 1950 photo of Ferrari 166 MM Touring Barchetta S/N 0010M.

This photo was shot at the 1950 6 Hours Sam Collier Memorial race at Sebring, Florida, USA.

The car in question was previously owned by Scuderia Ferrari who had entered it in the 1949 Mille Miglia and Luigi Chinetti who entered it amongst others in the 1949 24 Heures du Mans.

After Chinetti, it went to Jim Kimberly who was the one who entered it in the race shown here.

Kimberly drove the car together with his mechanic, Marshall Lewis.

The car survives to this day in excellent condition.

The photo measures some 6.5 x 4.5 inches and is in excellent condition.

There are NO references to a possible photographer.

Vintage 1951 Photograph, Reg Parnell on Ferrari 375 Thinwall Special, Goodwood Trophy 1951.

This is a good size vintage photo of Reg Parnell in the Ferrari 375 Thinwall Special prior to the 1951 Goodwood Trophy at Goodwood race track in the UK.

Reg would finish the race in second place behind Nino Farina on Alfa Romeo 158.

The photo measures some 8 x 6 inches or 20 x 15 cm and is in good condition (bar a slightly bent corner in the extreme lower right edge), there are a few slight marks from the original negative that had suffered from the film transporting mechanism.

It is also a big enlargement from part of the negative so it is a bit grainy but nevertheless a great vintage print from a by-gone era.

Vintage 1952 Photo of Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0178ED at the start of the Mille Miglia.

This is a genuine & vintage 1952 photo of the Ferrari 225 Sport Vignale Berlinetta 0178ED of Count Antonio Sterzi before the start of the Mille Miglia in Brescia on May 3, 1952.

If I am not mistaken, we see the Count himself at the wheel in this photo.

Sterzi partnered up with Nino Rovelli for the race but unfortunately the duo didn't make it to the finish line...

Apparently, the car was in a fire in the 1950's after which the engine and body got separated but both survive, albeit in different parts of the world.

The photo measures some 7 x 5 inches (18 x 12.5 cm) and is matt, somewhat Sepia-toned black & white.

It carries NO copyright notice.

Although Alberto won the first heat, the camshafts of his Ferrari 500 failed in the second heat which effectively put him out of the race.

This is a vintage July 1952 photo of the Ferrari 225S of Mr. Kleber, driven by Jean Lucas to victory in the Sables d'Olonne with race number 112.

It is interesting to see that the car carries the (painted) temporary Italian license plate on the front which reads "BO 11890" which was a carry-over from the previous Italian owner, Franco Bordoni.

This number contradicts other sources which mention "BO 11891".

Somewhere in the mid-1950's the car was exported to the USA where it apparently still resides.

This is a vintage photo of Ferrari 166 Inter Vignale Coupe after it had been exported to the USA in 1952.

The car can be seen wearing a 1952 New Jersey license plate which is somewhat contradictory to the "official history" of the car which lists it as having been exported to Florida.

The car had previously been entered in the 1951 Mille Miglia, which it didn't finish, and although it appears to be in pretty good nick on the photo, closer inspection shows it to be somewhat battered.

Nowadays the cars seems to be residing in Italy again.

The car shows a 1954 Texas license plate in these photos so I presume the photos to have been taken in either 1954 or 1955 and the setting appears to be correct for that period and it is in line with other photos that came from the same source.

The car seems to survive in highly original condition and still resides in the USA.

The photos carry a print date stamp of November 1970 on the RH edge.

Each photo measures some 7.5 x 7.5 cm (or 3 x 3 inches) and is in excellent condition for its age.

Only 1 set of 3 photos available.

Vintage 1955 COLOR Photograph of Jim Kimberly's Ferrari 375MM S/N 0364AM at the SCCA Beverly Race 4th of July 1955.

The photo can be dated so exactly as in February 1955, the trailer on which he car was being transported flipped over and the 4th of July race was the first race outing after the damage had been repaired but the car raced in bare aluminum... and that is very well recognizable in this photo.

The car was recently auctioned by RM Auctions and set a new record for a 375 MM!

This is a vintage late 1960's or early 1970's print, judging by the other prints that were in this collection.

It measures some 9 x 6 cm or 3.5 x 2.4 inches.

Only 1 available.

Vintage 1955 Photograph of Duncan Black's Ferrari 375MM S/N 0382AM at the SCCA Beverly Race 4th of July 1955.

The photo can be dated so exactly as the car got a new windshield configuration between February and July 1955 and raced only once with race number 14 in combination with that new windshield and that was at the SCCA Beverly meeting of the 4th of July 1955...

The car raced twice that day, once in race 3 which it didn't finish and once in race 7 in which it came in second in class and third overall.

Black acquired the car in July 1955 and raced it not less that 25 times until he sold it on in 1960. The car now seems to reside in Austria.

Vintage Photo - Ferrari 195 Inter Vignale Coupe S/N 0099S.

This is a vintage photo of Ferrari 195 Inter Vignale Coupe in all its original splendor in ca. 1955 in the USA.

There is little known about the car except its original Italian owner and that it appears to have been in the USA as late as 1986.

Nowadays the engine and chassis seem to have disappeared and the body, which was in pretty bad shape at one stage, was on a 212 Europa Coupe (S/N 0269EU).

In this picture the car sports a 1955 Massachusetts license plate and the setting appears to be correct for that period.

The photo carries a print date stamp of November 1970 on the RH edge.

A truly unique opportunity to acquire a photograph of a "vanished" Vignale Ferrari!

The photo measures some 7.5 x 7.5 cm (or 3 x 3 inches) and is in excellent condition for its age.

Please note:
We also have a set of 5 vintage color photos of 0099S, taken in 1954, showing the car in pristine condition. Please do inquire if you want to acquire these extremely rare photos that show great detail in COLOR!

This is a vintage photograph of the Ferrari Monza 750 of Ken Wharton & Jacques Jonneret en route to a DNF in the 1955 Goodwood 9 Hours.

The car was owned by Ken Wharton who got killed in it at Ardmore, New Zealand on January 12, 1957.

One source mentions no further racing activities with it but we found some information that later on the car was apparently owned by Bill Thomasen of New Zealand who raced it quite extensively in NZ during 1960 & 1961.

After this, the car got a Chevrolet Corvette engine implanted and now seems to reside at a NZ museum.

The photo measures some 11.5 x 9 cm or 8.5 x 6.5 inches.

The back carries NO photographer's stamp.

Given the fact that the race number indicates the actual starting time (i.e. 727 started at 7.27 AM; 728 at 7.28 AM) Taruffi already made up 1 minute on Perdisa so this must be rather early on in the race and Perdisa even finds time to wave at the crowd.

Eventually none of the two cars & drivers would make it to the finish; Taruffi dropping out after exactly 5 hours, 4 minutes and 54 seconds with a broken oil pump and Perdisa a mere 15 minutes later for reasons unknown to us.

Both cars survive to this day.

This is rather famous shot of Juan Manuel Fangio just having completed the grueling 1956 edition of the Mille Miglia.

It concerns a vintage 1956 print of this image and it was used by a contemporary magazine, given the scribbling on the rear.

Fangio drove his Ferrari 290MM 0626 to a 4th place overall.

The race was famously won by Eugenio Castellotti, also on 290MM, followed by Peter Collins, also on 290MM, who had photographer Louis Klemantasky on board, followed by Luigi Musso on 860 Monza. Olivier Gendebien brought his 250 GT LWB home in th place, making it effectively a 1-2-3-4-5 for Ferrari!

2 Vintage 1958 photos of Mike Hawthorn on Ferrari 246 at the Race of two Worlds at Monza

2 Vintage 1958 photos of Mike Hawthorn on Ferrari 246, Race of two Worlds, Monza.

This lot consists of two photographs taken in the paddock preceding the 1958 Race of Two Worlds (or Monzanapolis) on June 29, 1958.

The first photograph shows Mike in his # 12 Ferrari 246 and the second shows the same car surrounded by the crowd.

The race of Two Worlds was basically an exhibition event to show both American and European teams to the public and was held in 1957 & 1958 at the banked track of Monza.

These photographs date from the 1958 event and quite an event it was for Ferrari!

In the first heat (of 3) Luigi Musso succumbed to the methanol fumes and handed his car over to Mike Hawthorn in lap 27. Musso returned to the wheel in the last lap and brought the car home in 6th place.

In the third heat, Mike suffered the same fate as Luigi did in the first and handed the car over to Phil Hill who brought the car up to third place before handing it back to Mike again.

All in all, not a great success for Ferrari!

These are vintage photos, i.e. they were printed shortly after the image was captured on film.

Each photo measures some 10 x 7 cm or 4 x 2.75 inches and are in excellent condition.

The backs carry some notes but NO photographer's stamp.

Only 1 set available.

Vintage 1959 photo of Tony Brooks on Ferrari 246 at the Grand Prix of the USA at Sebring.

This is a vintage 1959 B&W photo of Tony Brooks at the wheel of his Ferrari 246 F1 during the 1959 Grand Prix of the USA, held at Sebring.

This was the first ever GP in the USA.

It measures approximately 7 x 5 inches.

Excellent condition.

About the car:

This is S/N 0004, built in 1958 and is of the small tube chassis frame variety.

This is the same car in which Luigi Musso had his fatal accident during the French Grand Prix held at Reims on July 6, 1958.

The car was raced extensively during the 1958, 1959 and 1960 seasons and was raced by the above mentioned Luigi Musso and further by Wolfgang von Trips, Phil Hill, Jean Behra (amongst others a win at the Aintree 200, 1959), Cliff Allison, Olivier Gendebien, Froilan Gonzales and of course Tony brooks.

The car was broken up at the end of the 1960 season but somewhere during the 1960's Sir Anthony Bamford of the UK acquired the engine from the factory. In 1980 Graypaul Motors created a replica of the car which now seems to reside in Japan.

About the race:

Tony qualified 4th with a time of 3'05.9 and finished the race in in 3rd position, a royal 3 minutes behind winner Bruce McLaren on Cooper Climax.
